Reforms in the Inspections System

IDEAS DePo, under the auspices of the USAID Civic Engagement Project assistance to the Vice Prime Minister for Good Governance, implemented the activity “Reforms in the Inspection System” in a close cooperation with the Inspection Council as the main stakeholder. Under this Project, a number of activities were implemented aimed at further development of the overall inspection framework and relevant strategic documents, improvement of the legislative framework, as well as raising the awareness of the inspection procedure that can be easily understand by businesses and citizens.

This activity incorporated a highly participative and collaborative approach by actively engaging all key stakeholders such as the relevant government institutions, as well as the private sector, NGOs, academia and other relevant players, through organization of several consultations sessions and workshops.

IDEAS DePo assistance under this Project was focused on the following activities:

(1) development of three important and comprehensive documents and analysis, such as:

a) long-term Strategic Guidelines for the Inspection System in North Macedonia,

b) Analysis of the Implementation of the Law on Inspection Supervision, and

c) Analysis of Potential Corruption Bottlenecks in the Operation of the Inspection Authorities,

(2) Developing education Curricula on Integration for Inspectors as part of the mandatory training for the licensing procedure to become an inspector and

(3) implementation of activities from the Communication Strategy of the Inspection Council, such as development of promotional video of the functioning of e-Inspector and several infographics to inform the general public of essential functioning of the inspection system in the country.
